From 25 - 28 May 2017 the pilots in the ADAC Zurich 24-hour race will again be racing around the 25-kilometre long combination of Nordschleife and Grand Prix Circuit.
Following the spectacular 2016 Nürburgring 24h Race when the race had to be red-flagged for three hours due to torrential rain and heavy hail and the battle for the win was taken down to the final lap, the motor-racing enthusiasts now can look forward to a just as spectacular highlight of the 2017 season. And once again, more than 200,000 fans will travel to the Eifel to witness 160 cars charging around the legendary circuit twice around the clock at maximum speed. And top series such as the FIA WTCC (World Touring Car Championship), FIA ETCC (European Touring Car Cup) and the Audi Sport TT Cup – a series RAVENOL cooperates with as technology partner and official supplier – will kick off the race action as early as on Friday.
RAVENOL is the official lubricant partner of the 24h Race and just like in 2016 technology partner of several top teams. In this context, the qualifying-race winners Phoenix Racing (Audi R8 LMS) or last year’s runner-up, Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport (Mercedes AMG GT3) have to be mentioned as they certainly once again will be factors in the battle for the overall win. Meanwhile, skateboard legend Titus Dittmann will contest the legendary endurance race in the ‘Green Hell’ with the Chrysler Dodge Viper CC, the ‘Green Beast’. RAVENOL partners LMS Engineering and Bonk Motorsport enter an Audi RS3 LMS TCR, with LMS also contesting the race with an additional Audi TT RS 2. The Toyota GT 86 of Manheller Racing also will race in a RAVENOL livery. Mathilda Racing have got three cars in the entry list, two Volkswagens Golf GTI TCR and a Seat Leon TCR. Both Bonk Motorsport and Scheid Motorsport will be represented on the grid by BMWs M235i Racing. At the same time, Porsche fans may look forward to the Porsches Cayman GT4 CS that will be entered by the teams Securtal Sorg Rennsport, Schmickler Performance und Arkenau Motorsport. And don’t forget the true eye-catcher, the legendary Opel Manta B of Kissling Motorsport / Team Beckman. The vehicle with the obligatory fox brush is an inherent part of 24h race.
On Saturday, from 14:45hrs CEST (13:45hrs BST), the teams showcase themselves for the crowds on the starting-grid at the RAVENOL Media Center. At 15:30hrs CEST, the 45th edition of the legendary ADAC Zurich 24h Race will be started and lap by lap, all the competitors also will corner the ‘RAVENOL Kurve’ that is part of the Grand Prix circuit.
Just like last year, the German free-to-air station RTL NITRO will cover the race twice around the clock. This year, the station’s live coverage of the event at the Nürburgring will amount to 26 hours – a new world record for live events!
In addition, the fans also may look forward to an international 24h live stream.
We wish all our partners and the teams a lot of success and much fun in this race of superlatives!
