The upcoming Easter weekend is the start of the season for the RAVENOL Team SAN in the FIA European Touring Car Cup (ETCC) 2014. The SAN Team is fully focussed on its driver Ulrike Krafft from Hamburg starting in a brand new Ford Fiesta 1.6 16V in the Super 1600 class opening event in Le Castellet, France. The first four of five attractive FIA Touring Car World Championships (WTCC) events scheduled in Europe will take place at the Paul Ricard/France, Slovakiaring/Slovakia, Salzburgring/Austria and Spa/Belgiium racing circuits. The final is an ETCC individual event held in Pergusa on Sicily /Italy.
Ulrike Krafft, third-placed in the championships last year, starts with number 33 as in the previous year. She is competing in her fourth ETCC season with the RAVENOL Team SAN after having an impressive championship record of second in 2011 and third in both 2012 and 2013. Last year alone she appeared on the victory stand four times while in Pergusa she succeeded as the first woman ever in the ETCC of actually achieving her first win in her racing career. As a result she possesses the necessary experience to assert herself in the tough fight for this year’s title. ‘I am looking forward immensely to participating in the ETCC in the SAN team and naturally have a secret hope that together we will be able to celebrate even more success than last year’, the ambitious qualified engineer says who has just recently celebrated her 30th birthday. Ulrike also has the FIA ETCC Ladies' Trophy in her sights which is awarded to the best female driver in the field of starters. ‘After four years together we are a well-coordinated team and we are looking forward to the coming challenges with her’, Hans Niemann the team manager says confidently looking at the season ahead.
When the season opens on the 20 April the ETCC is for the first time to start on the 'Circuit Paul Ricard’ located in the southern-French town of Le Castellet near Toulon. A total field of more than 30 starters is expected to compete for victory in their respective classes in the two 14-lap races.
