Disappointing 24h Race for Phoenix Racing: in the endurance classic at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, both Audi R8 LMS vehicles of the team were forced by accidents into early retirement.

In the night, two-time 24h-Race winner Markus Winkelhock, racing the Audi R8 LMS #6 for Audi Sport Team Phoenix, collided with the sister car driven by Connor De Phillippi for Team Montaplast by Land-Motorsport due to a misunderstanding. Both cars were damaged that badly that repairing them on site proved to be impossible. And a close encounter of a rival and the Audi #5 raced by the extremely experience Frank Stippler – in the closing stages – meant the end for the Phoenix hopes for a top-six result.
