This weekend, 17th to 19th November, the peninsula Macau, located not far from Hong Kong, will stage its prestigious Macau GP. This motor-sport event features a broad range of motor-racing categories, from single-seater racing through touring cars and GTs to motorcycles.
The Guia Circuit of China’s special administration region Macau has been the venue of the Macau GP since 1954. The street circuit with its 24 corners and a width of partly just seven metres is regarded as one of the most challenging racetracks in the world.
Meanwhile, it will be the first appearance at the Guia circuit for Team Aust Motorsport from North Rhine Westphalia that will make its Macau debut in the GT category. The squad will enter the Audi R8 LMS GT3 that was developed by quattro GmbH with the support of Abt Sportsline and relies on RAVENOL motor-racing lubricants such as the engine oil RAVENOL RSS SAE 10W-60, the gearbox oil RAVENOL Racing Gearoil and the brake fluid RAVENOL Racing Brake Fluid R325+, both in the Macau GP and in the ADAC GT Masters.
The Formula 3 race will be contested – inter alia – by the Oschersleben based Team Motopark, the Dutch squad Van Amersfoort Racing where today’s F1 ace Jos Verstappen learned his trade in 2014 and Italy’s top team Prema that will race in Macau under the name Theodore Racing – the team that helped Ayrton Senna to win the first edition of the Macau F3 Grand Prix back in 1983. This year’s edition of the Formula 3 race will be contested by Prema with their FIA Formula 3 European Championship line-up: Callum Ilott, Guanyu Zhou, Maximilian Günther and Mick Schumacher, the son of the F1 record World Champion Michael Schumacher. In 1990, Michael won the Macau GP and in 1995, Mick’s uncle Ralf added another Macau title to the family tally. RAVENOL also support the Formula 3 teams as technical partner and make the appropriate motor-racing lubricants available.
The 18-lap feature race will be started on 19th November at 05:10hrs CET (04:10hrs BT). The entire race action will be streamed live via the FIA website.
