This weekend (22nd to 24th July), Moscow, the political, economical and cultural centre of Russia, will stage a race meeting of a young-driver series that enjoys a lot of respect at the pundits: SMP F4 NEZ Championship. The series that is held in Northern Europe has been certified according to FIA regulations.

The championship was kicked off in late April at Sotchi, in the support programme of the Russian Formula One GP. Afterwards, Zandvoort – the demanding Dutch circuit located right at the North-Sea coast that also stages DTM and FIA F3 European Championship race meetings – was the venue of the next two SMP F4 NEZ Championship races. Similarly to the FIA F3 European Championship, the race weekends usually comprise three races.

The single seater

The turbocharged 160bhp Abarth engines in the spec 2014-01-F4 are perfectly lubricated with the RAVENOL engine oil RSS 10W-60. At the wheel of the agile single-seaters, the young drivers gather their first experiences when it comes to the speed and acceleration of a single-seater. Strict safety specifications set by the FIA certified regulations make for high safety standards and fair motor racing. In the technology area, equal chances are made for by the homologation of car components such as the chassis No 2014-01-F4 Tatuus, the engine installation No 2014-01-F4-Tatuus-02/01 EK or the gearbox casing No 2015-01-F4-Sadev, supplied by French manufacturer Sadev. In the latter, the RAVENOL Racing Gearoil in the API GL-5, LS spec that was developed particularly for the use in lamella differentials for motor-racing vehicles will be used. Furthermore, using the RAVENOL Racing Brake Fluid R325+ in the SMP 4 NEZ Championship also will become stipulated by the regulations. This high-performance brake fluid that can cope with extremely high strains has to be rated on the highest DOT 4 level.

The SMP F4 NEZ Championship will exclusively use RAVENOL products in all the cars of the series and in the future, the use of them will be stipulated by the regulations that can be found at SMP F4 NEZ Championship(Guide to F4 -Regulations).

After karting, Formula 4 represents the best opportunity for young guns to make the next step on the motor-racing ladder and prove their skills in a highly competitive environment. Furthermore, the young drivers take part in several education programmes: in special exercises and training courses they intensely are prepared for the tasks to come. Consequently, we may expect to witness some of the F4 talents making it to higher motor-racing categories, in the near future – possibly even in the FIA Formula One, the pinnacle of motor racing.

RAVENOL Motorsport Director Martin Huning: “As manufacturer of high-quality lubricants we particularly focus on the use and enhancement of our products. Therefore, the cooperation with the SMP F4 NEZChampionship mainly is a technical partnership. We look forward to collaborating with another popular single-seater series in the same way we already successfully cooperate with the FIA F3 European Championship.”
