Last weekend, Monaco’s Charles Leclerc secured the 2017 FIA Formula 2 Championship title. With six race wins and eight podiums under his belt, the 19-year old Monegasque who already shone in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship clinched the title early, with another race weekend and two more races respectively to be contested. With his win in the feature race of the race meeting at Jerez, Spain, he extended his lead to an extent that can’t be closed by any driver in the season finale. And for his squad, Prema Racing, that also won the team and drivers titles in 2016, it even was the second consecutive F2 triumph.

With his F2 title, Leclerc follows the footsteps of Frenchman Pierre Gasly who contested the latest two F1 Grands Prix for Toro Rosso. Leclerc is a Ferrari Junior and already has been testing for the Ferrari, Sauber and Haas Formula One teams. Recently at Sepang he contested the first Friday practice session for Sauber F1 and is supposed to also do so at Austin, Mexico City and Interlagos.

For RAVENOL, technical supplier of the Italian squad, Leclerc’s success once again demonstrated the outstanding competitiveness of their products even in the most extreme conditions.
