The Ravenol Media Award of the ATS Formula 3 Cup is one of the most coveted awards for young racing talents. It intends to promote dealing with the media in addition to the practice on the racetrack. With this, the German Formula 3 lives up to its mission “general qualification for motorsports” again. The successful Ravenol Media Award concept from the year 2013 is to be continued. Last year, Freddy Killensberger's very creative cross-media project convinced the international jury. The line-up for this year's jury will be slightly different but of the same high profile.
In 2012 Swiss Yannick Mettler gave his career a media-related boost, in 2013 rookie Freddy Killensberger followed suit. “Due to my participation I explored the issue of media relations,” says the driver from Wortelstetten. “I gained a lot of interesting background knowledge. This strengthened me and made giving interviews even more fun.”
The Formula 3 Association and their partner Ravenol is holding the Media Award, which is endowed with prize money of 5,000 Euros, again in the 2014. “I think it is important that the young drivers prove that they are able to inspire media interest in addition to their athletic abilities,” says Martin Huning, Ravenol Motorsport Director. “We want to motivate them to plan and execute their own project. Every athlete, who knows how to sell themselves well, is interesting for teams as well as companies.” The creativity of the young drivers is the key element again in 2014. There is a broad variety of topics, including press and media relations, public relations, events, online communication, social media or film. The creative project is to be realised by October 31st, 2014.
New members in the international jury
An international jury will offer expertise throughout the season. “I took a close look at the results of last year's initiative and assessed them together with the other members of the jury,” recalls Huning. “Seeing how creative some of the applicants were and their degree of personal commitment was fantastic. I am already looking forward to the ideas of the 2014 applicants.”
Bettina Eichhammer, the ATS Formula 3 Cup spokeswoman, will join the Motorsport Director in the jury. Katrin Wolff, Managing Editor of Auto Bild Motorsport magazine, is a new addition. Two more international media representatives are to join the jury. “I can only recommend taking part in this initiative,” says Killensberger. “Receiving the award was a big honour for me.” The winner of the Ravenol Media Award will be announced at the Essen Motor Show again.
