Last Saturday, RAVENOL made the long-term dream of a young man come true.
Max who suffers from autism could witness the final home match of his Borussia Mönchengladbach from the VIP seats to cross his fingers for his team. RAVENOL, the official and exclusive lubricant partner of the tradition-rich club from the Lower Rhine region, accompanied the young man on this special day and had some more surprises for Max.
The biggest passion of Max is football and he is a huge Mönchengladbach supporter. Max is able to remember and recall every score. He does not only know that a goal was scored but also in what minute and by whom. His enthusiasm – and his love for his Borussia – were increased by the 2006 Football World Cup in Germany. So, a family tradition was continued: his great-grandfathers was one of the first to attend the matches at the ‘Bökelberg’ and many family members should share this passion.
Max is a long-term member in the Borussia Mönchengladbach fan club ‘Blaue Welle’ (blue wave). The ‘Blaue Welle’ was the first integrative fan club in Germany and was founded in 2008 by the counselling organisation ‘Lebenshilfe Heinsberg e.V’. The goal: to offer disabled people the opportunity to take part in leisure-time activities as part of the society. Max’ long-term caregiver, Mr Skandarajah, already helped Max attending international matches and the Telekom Cup. For quite a while, Max had the wish to get even closer to the players. Therefore, the surprise to be able to get really close to his idols in the VIP area on his 25th birthday represented a dream come true.
Prior to the kick-off, Max and his caregiver were warmly welcomed in the VIP area by Borussia representative Philipp Havermann (sponsoring). Afterwards they entered the VIP stand to watch the match. After the match followed another highlight: Max and Skandarajah were allowed to enter the inner sanctum of the Borussia Park. Through the entrance tunnel where the players involved meet right before the matches to then enter the field they walked to the pitch and then to the players’ bench where Max sat down on the seat of Borussia head coach Dieter Hecking. And with a jersey signed by all the Borussia pros, RAVENOL Marketing Manager Dimitri Barichnowski gave Max another special treat.
Barichnowski: “As a company we are really delighted with having the opportunity to make for special moments and make hearts beat faster. And for me, it also was a personal pleasure to experience these moments together with Max and remember these great moments.”
And there was one more great moment. Prior to the match, his tip for the result was 3:1 – and he was right. In an attractive match, Borussia Mönchengladbach beat SC Freiburg 3:1.
