The Prosperia C. Abt Racing team will be presenting a rather tasty horsepower treat at the third race of the ADAC GT Masters season this weekend (24th-25th of May) at Eurospeedway Lausitz. The current rally world champion Sébastien Ogier leaves his 315 horsepower Volkswagen Polo R WRC in the garage, exchanging it for a guest performance in the "League of Supersport Cars“ and a 550 horsepower Audi R8 LMS ultra with start number 12. For the 30 year-old Frenchman it is the first time in his successful motor sport career that he will pilot a GT3 racer. However, he's not completely without circuit experience. The fact that he's able to drive the perfect lines required in sports-car racing was proven last year in his guest start in the Porsche Supercup in Monaco. "I like new challenges, so I'm looking forward to starting the ADAC master GT and my first race with the Audi R8 LMS ultra for the Prosperia C. Abt Racing team. I already visited the ADAC Masters GT event in Oschersleben and I've got an idea how the Series is panning out. The driver's field is very high-class with a lot of good drivers. In addition, there is always a lot of overtaking over distance, something which we don't really have in the rally world championships, of course. I have a quick and experienced team colleague at my side in Markus Winkelhock. I am sure his advice will help me to start well prepared in the racing weekender“, said Ogier.
"We are ever so glad that the current rally world champion Sébastien Ogier has decided to race for Prosperia C. Abt Racing in the Eurospeedway series“, says Christian Abt, team boss of Prosperia C. Abt Racing. "I am proud that one of the best drivers in the world trusts in us. Above all, his partnership with Markus Winkelhock is the stuff of dreams for a very thrilling race.“
But however new the field will look at the ADAC GT Masters event, Sébastien Ogier will certainly see a well-known face there. Andrea Kaiser is now a member of TV channel Kabel 1 who will be transmitting all of the ADAC GT races live. The presenter has for some time been the life partner of rally pilot Ogier. The Volkswagen works driver simply won't be able to ignore any of his partner's interview questions for fear of repercussions at home following the race weekend...
As well as the domestic assistance he can expect to receive, Ogier can also count on his GT3 team colleague Markus Winkelhock. The first advice of the 2012 FIA GT world champion: "I think it would be a good idea for us to stay out of the dirt and stick to the road“, jokes the former Formula 1 pilot. "But seriously, it is a great thing to be able to line up together with Ogier in the ADAC GT Masters. I am sure that his driving experience will ensure we get a good speed.“ Indeed, Winkelhock also makes it clear that working together with Ogier, currently rally world championship league leader, will be more than just a relaxed weekend jaunt. "Ogier isn't just here to have fun. He is ambitious and wants to succeed. The Prosperia C. Abt Racing team and I will do everything we can to enable him to have a successful entry into GT sport and to achieve an optimum result.“
