Green light for the FIA ETCC 2015 season

The new season in the FIA European Touring Car Cup (ETCC) began for team RAVENOL Team SAN cup on the first weekend in May. Together with our long-standing pilot Ulrike Krafft and her Ford Fiesta 1.6 16V we will compete once again for the Super 1600 title. This year, and for the first time, the racing calendar has twelve races on six popular racetracks in Europe. While the first three events take place within the scope of the FIA touring car world championships (WTCC) on the Hungaroring, Slovakiaring and in Le Castellet, the remaining three will be held as a single ETCC event in Brünn, Zolder and Pergusa.

Ulrike Krafft is already in her fifth ETCC season with RAVENOL Team SAN and has established herself as a prospective ETCC champion with her total enthusiasm, great ambition and top driving skills. With two vice championship titles in 2011 and 2014, third place in 2012 and 2013, as well as victory in the FIA ETCC Ladies' Trophy in 2014, the 31-year-old engineer has already had an impressive racing career. Last year she notched up four victories and three podium placings, and in addition she registered the best time in the Qualifying every time. Up until the penultimate race in Spa in Belgium she looked to have the title within her grasp, only to fall at the last hurdle with gearbox trouble in both races, missing out on the necessary points which would have taken her over the line. "My clear aim in 2015 is to win the 1600 championship. I know that I can win it, together with my team, and will work hard for it“, Ulrike is a competitor. Team boss Hans Niemann is of the same opinion: "Of course this is also our aim, and she can count on our support. We are a well coordinated team, but in the end we also need that little bit of luck“.

At the start of the season, from the 2nd to the 3rd of May, the ETCC will take place on the 4,381km long Hungaroring in Budapest, Hungary for the first time. The legendary Formula 1 course is infamous because of its many curves and few overtaking opportunities, all-in-all a very demanding circuit. At both Formula 1 and WTCC events it is a true spectator's magnet, and the ETCC pilots expect to run both of their starting races in front of a big audience.
