In the French town of Pau the Monacan driver Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing) was able to build on his previous successes in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and drive to three more podium finishes, the third of them as victor. As a consequence this weekend saw the duel at the top of the table between Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) and Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing) progress to the next round.
The Italian and the Monacan were both leading figures at each award ceremony during the race weekend. The results of the individual races are as follows:
Race 1: Jake Dennis (Prema Powerteam), Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin), Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing)
Race 2: Jake Dennis (Prema Powerteam), Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing), Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin)
Race 3: Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing), Felix Rosenqvist (Prema Powerteam), Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin).
Among the other RAVENOL partners in Pau, Alessio Lorandi (Van Amersfoort Racing) and his teammate Arjun Maini also picked up points with 6th and 7th and 4th and 5th place finishes respectively, as did the Team Motoparl drivers Markus Pommer (8th) and Sam Macleod (9th).
In the overall rankings Gioninazzi is ahead with 164 points, while Leclerc has 149 points.
The next races take place at Monza in Italy from 29th-31st May.
