Since 2016, the RAVENOL GROUP has been operating a photovoltaic system at its Werther plant, which generates around 340.000 kWh of electricity annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by around 88 tonnes per year. Experience shows that photovoltaics make a reliable contribution to reducing energy consumption from fossil fuels.
Based on these positive results, the decision was made to expand the sustainable energy supply at the second production site in Lubmin. A new photovoltaic system with a total output of 482 kWp was commissioned at Deutsche Ölwerke Lubmin GmbH. The system covers an area of around 2,141 m² and is expected to generate around 443,641 kWh of electricity per year in future.
In summer 2024, the roof was structurally reinforced by Dachbau Schröder as a preparatory step for the installation. The actual installation of the PV system was carried out by RMW Future Solar GmbH between October 2024 and July 2025. Mickley Blitzschutz GmbH was responsible for grounding and lightning protection, while Horizonte Group GmbH handled the AC-side electrical installation.
The newly installed system not only contributes significantly to the energy supply of the Lubmin site, but also saves approximately 266,185 kg of CO₂ emissions per year. The generated electricity is primarily used for the site’s own energy needs, with any surplus fed into the public grid. Precise data on the self-consumption rate will be collected during ongoing operations.
From a technical standpoint, the installation is a standard system; however, the required roof reinforcement presented a particular challenge in advance. This was successfully managed and now provides the foundation for stable and sustainable energy generation.

The company is also considering expanding the PV systems to additional roof areas at the Lubmin site. Any decisions will be based on the operational experience gained. Smaller measures, such as the completed switch to LED lighting, complement the company’s commitment to energy efficiency.
