Strong starting field for the DMV GTC at Hockenheim

The coming weekend (3rd/4th July 2015), Hockenheim will bear witness to the 7th and 8th races of the DMV GT and Touring Car Cup (DMV GTC) season. Over 30 vehicles will line up on the starting grids. Fans are eagerly anticipating the 4th race weekend of the DMV GTC. Having started the race season in Hockenheim, and then raced at Oschersleben and the Red Bull Ring, the championship is now returning to the Grand Prix circuit in Baden-Wurttemberg.

As well as the exciting races, there is also the first appearance of the new Mercedes AMG GT3 to look forward to. The new car will be on display at Hockenheim for the first time in the context of DMV GTC. Free practice will begin proceedings on Friday morning, followed by qualifying in the afternoon when things will start to get serious. The qualifying sessions will decide the grid positions for both of the races on Saturday, the 4th of July.

Strong performance from Ulrike Krafft in the FIA ETCC at the Slovakiaring

RAVENOL Team SAN once again managed to bring home an overall second place points-finish in the Super 1600 Class during the 3rd and 4th races of the FIA European Touring Car Cup at the Slovakiaring, held over the weekend of the 19th – 21st June. In doing so SAN driver Ulrike Krafft showed her dominance in her Ford Fiesta 16V over the demanding 5.922km track. First of all she drove to a pole-position start in qualifying, following that up with her first victory of the season in the first race of the weekend. In the second race she was forced to relinquish her lead because of a mistake under braking and a subsequent spin, eventually crossing the line in third place. As a result she marginally missed out on the top spot on the podium.

The next couple of ETCC races are as early as this coming weekend (26th – 28th June), at the Paul Ricard Circuit in southern France.

Leclerc maintains lead in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship

Last weekend the Norisring in Nuremburg, often called the “Frankish Monaco”, hosted the FIA Formula 3 European Championship as part of the DTM – Formula 3 is effectively the most important racing category of the World Automobile Federation (FIA) below Formula 1. Van Amersfoort driver Charles Leclerc drove to two podium finishes in three races at the 2.3km Norisring, finishing as victor in one of them, and thereby maintaining his overall lead at the top of the table. After crossing the line in 3rd place at the second race of the weekend, in the third race he finished a close 4th, still being rewarded with points despite missing out on a full-house of podium finishes.

Currently the Monegasque driver is at the top of the pack with 239.5 points, ahead of the Italien Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) on 227 points and the Swede Felix Rosenqvist (Prema Powerteam) on 203 points. With 345.5 points in the “rookie-ratings” for newcomers to the series, he is also streets ahead of his nearest rival, the Brit George Russel, currently sitting on 217 points. Leclerc’s team (Van Amersfoort Racing) currently occupies 2nd place in the team ratings.
