The extreme heat played a factor at the DTC, and these are the highlights from the Division races: Milenko Vukovic looked like the definite winner but broke down in the last lap to allow Heiko Hammel to storm to victory. In Division Two, Ralf Glatzel made sure of his fourth victory of the season. Steve Kirsch held his ground to win in Division Three.
Division 1
The race began very well for Vukovic. The Swiss took the lead in front of Jordan and polesetter Hammel and put distance between himself and the field. It was a hard fight for second, with Jordan overtaking Hammel, but at the end of the second lap, Hammel was in second again. But a few metres later, Hammel skidded on oil and ploughed into the gravel. "I was afraid I'd break something“, said the eventual victor. "But I was lucky and I was quickly able to catch up on Jordan again.“
Hammel managed to fight his way back up to second in the tenth lap, and was initially very happy with that. However, on the last lap the heat took its toll, and Vukovic, who was well in front at the time, broke down. Hammel secured his first victory of the season, coming in in front of Franjo Kovac and Kai Jordan. "Overnight I received a new engine and today I was on the track trying it out", said Jordan. "But the duel with Heiko was great fun. I am happy to have scored some points and my thanks go out to my fantastic team who created this great car for me.“ On the championship table, Hammel gained nine points on Fredrik Lestrup. The Swede wasn't able to begin the race and had to be pushed off the starting grid. "I am glad to be in striking distance once again“, beamed Hammel.

In Division Two, Glatzel was able to celebrate a double victory, and after yesterday's success he climbed to the top of the podium again. "It went like yesterday“, said the Ford Fiesta pilot. "From the start it was a relatively calm race.“ Dominique Schaak, who began in third, also finished the second race at the Lausitzring in second. "Today the start was extremely important because that was the main problem in Qualifying“, he said. "Luckily I managed it perfectly and I was able to secure second without any problems.“
For Matthias Meyer it was a hard race and a tough weekend which ended with the consolation of third place. "It was very difficult here – problems and more problems“, complained Meyer. "We had extreme and basic tuning problems. But in any case, we profited from the bad luck of others. By the time we got to the Salzburgring these problems had been solved.“ In the overall evaluation, Meyer was able to hold second place behind Glatzel, with Schaak lurking just one point behind in third.
In Division Three, the spectators saw the same podium placings as on the day before. Steve Kirsch was extremely strong once again and continued his series of victories at the Lausitzring. Wagner managed to secure second again. "I was glad that I had a bit of space in front of me so that I didn't have too much of a problem with the cooling“, said the Austrian, who finished in front of Dirk Lauth, adding to his other second placing, taking him up to second on the leaderboard. Races seven and eight take place from the 24th to the 26th of July 2015 on the Salzburgring in Austria.
