The ATS Formula 3 Cup in the Scope of the DTM

The ATS Formula 3 Cup enters the decisive phase of the season. Three more racing weeks are on the programme of the fastest national formula series. Next weekend, the Lausitzring will be awaiting the international participants, this time in the scope of the DTM. This is always one of the highlights of the racing calendar. The young pilots will then also meet DTM pilot Christian Vietoris. The 25-year-old fought for points in the ATS Formula 3 Cup in 2007. Officiating title candidate Markus Pommer is able to make a decisive step towards his victory in the 2014 season.

With nine races won, four extra points for pole position and six points for the fastest lap in the race, Markus Pommer from Team Lotus secured a large head start in front of runner-up Nabil Jeffri from Team Motopark. The Malayan follows with 86 points and just won't give up. Third place is held by the best Rookie, Dutchman Indy Dontje from Team Lotus. He and Briton Sam MacLeod from Van Amersfoort Racing in fourth place are also still in the game where the fight for the champion's title in the ATS Formula 3 Cup 2014 is concerned. If Pommer is able to score another successful racing weekend on the Lausitzring, however, the rivals will have to give their best once more on the second-to-last racing weekend next week to prevent a premature victory.

Interview with the pro

The young pilots can get some advance from Christian Vietoris this weekend. The 25-year-old from Gerolstein grabbed the victory at the DTM-race in Oschersleben and is currently in sixth place of the overall score.

He will personally talk to and advise his colleagues from the ATS Formula 3 Cup. Vietoris knows the conditions of German Formula 3. He drove in the series himself in 2007, winning on both the Nürburgring and the Sachsenring.

He ended the season in seventh place, before switching to the DTM via the Formula 3-Euroserie and the GP2 2011.

The ATS Formula 3 Cup in the media

Another partner was added to the ATS Formula 3 Cup on the last racing weekend. "Malaysia – Truly Asia" is shown on all racing vehicles in the ATS Formula 3 Cup, the rear wall for the prize awarding ceremony and on the presenter in the live stream.

Thanks to this good cooperation, the live stream can now also be viewed on www.formel3.de during all three races of the DTM weekend. They take place at 10:45 AM and 2:40 PM on Saturday and at 4:.40 PM on Sunday, right after the Superbike IDM motorcycle race. Of course, all races can also be followed via live timing.

Fans can get very close to all the young drivers of the ATS Formula 3 Cup, by the way – during the autograph session with interview on Sunday, 9:30 AM, at the ARD show stage in the driver's camp.
