The lead is hotly contested at the FIA ETCC in Le Castellet

As in the preceding week at the Slovakiaring, the RAVENOL SAN team came in second in the 5th and 6th races of the FIA European Touring Car Cup Super 1600 class in Le Castellet in the south of France from the 26th to the 28th of June. In hot summer weather with temperatures of around 30° Centigrade, two extremely exciting and fiercely competitive races took place in which SAN pilot Ulrike Krafft was able to hold on to 2nd in her Ford Fiesta 16 V on the 3,841km Circuit Paul Ricard. Now half-way through the season, she has 54 points and is in second table place with six races to go, with every chance of coming top in the Championships. All of the teams and drivers will be able to enjoy a 2-month summer break before the next event at the beginning of September in Brno in the Czech Republic.

Heated fight in the “Green Hell“

Nürburgring. The high summer temperatures turned the fourth race of the Opel Astra OPC Cup within the framework of the VLN long distance championships at the Nürburgring into a very heated battle. In temperatures of over 30 degrees, titleholders Heinz-Otto and Jürgen Fritzsche (Hückeswagen), as well as their Finnish team colleague Hannu Luostarinen, kept the coolest heads and strove to victory in the hard fought Opel brand cup. With their second success of the season, the trio in the Astra from Ti-Tarvike Racing with start number 353, also recaptured the lead in the overall ranking. Daniel Bohr, Jari Nuoramo and Juha Hannonen of Lubner Motorsport  crossed the finish line after four hours. The podium was completed by Robin Strycek and Moritz Oestreich. For the sons of ex-DTM pilots Volker Strycek and Markus Oestreich, who started from pole position, it was the second podium placing in the Opel Astra OPC cup.

Continuing bad luck: C.Abt Racing end a disappointing race weekend in the heat of the Lausitzring

The last two ADAC GT Masters races before the long summer break didn't go too well for the C.Abt Racing team. In spite of the best Qualifying results up until now, the team around Christian Abt left disappointed. There were temperatures of over 35 degrees: double that inside the racing cars. The weekend at the Lausitzring was a heated ordeal for fans, drivers and mechanics alike. But this didn't affect the performance of the C.Abt Racing team by any means. Nicki Thiim recorded the best Qualifying result of the season so far, and with a time of 1:20:326 he was placed second for the start; a clear view for the second race. Kelvin van der Linde, last year's champion, and Stefan Wackerbauer were very content with their sixth and eighth starting places respectively, particularly as they were ideal positions for scoring points.

ADAC Procar: Lausitzring Race 2: Decider in the last seconds

The extreme heat played a factor at the DTC, and these are the highlights from the Division races: Milenko Vukovic looked like the definite winner but broke down in the last lap to allow Heiko Hammel to storm to victory. In Division Two, Ralf Glatzel made sure of his fourth victory of the season. Steve Kirsch held his ground to win in Division Three.
